PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lamar Jacobson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silver comes to the cage accompanied by Pirate Song. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Lamar Jacobson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Silver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lamar Jacobson!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silver but Silver pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Jacobson scores a takedown into full mount!
Silver working to try and regain half guard.
Jacobson blocks Silver's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Silver is in a horrible position here. Jacobson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Silver gets back to half guard.
Jacobson blocks the strikes from Silver.
Jacobson is just content to waste time from the top position. Silver takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Jacobson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silver is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jacobson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jacobson wants to stand up but Silver is controlling him.
Silver has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Silver pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jacobson is keeping the position for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silver passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Jacobson is trying to improve his position.
Jacobson can't do much from the bottom here.
Jacobson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Silver connects with a decent elbow.

Silver tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silver has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Jacobson tries to improve position but can't.

Jacobson gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Silver can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jacobson is looking to escape.
Silver is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jacobson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Jacobson is desperately trying to improve his position but Silver has a good base and remains in mount.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Silver can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jacobson is looking to escape.
Jacobson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Jacobson is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Jacobson is desperately trying to improve his position but Silver has a good base and remains in mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silver scoring with strikes but Jacobson is staying in there.
Jacobson is squirming around, avoiding Silver's attempts to control the action.
Silver with shots to the head and body - Jacobson looks very uncomfortable down there.
Silver cracks Jacobson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Jacobson tries to buck Silver off but he can't manage it.
Silver unloading with bombs!

Silver is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Jacobson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Jacobson!
Silver is breathing heavily.
Jacobson wants to control from the top but Silver keeps moving.
Jacobson distracts Silver with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Silver trying to keep a closed guard but Jacobson is proving a slippery customer.
Silver is looking to sweep but instead, Jacobson has passed into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jacobson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Silver manages to get to full guard.
Jacobson stopping the sweep attempt from Silver.
Jacobson postures up and lands a big shot to Silver's brow.

Silver had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jacobson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Silver Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jacobson's back instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Silver will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Jacobson fails to land the takedown.
Jacobson wants to clinch.
Jacobson tries for a takedown but Silver sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Silver lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


Jacobson is rocked!
Jacobson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jacobson is still on wobbly legs! Can Silver finish him?
John Silver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lamar Jacobson.
Jacobson is holding his hands too far apart here. Silver throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Jacobson is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Silver!
