PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rocky Gatto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Weidman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weidman has chosen I Won't Back Down as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rocky Gatto had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 187.2lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. This should be a great matchup!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Weidman gets the takedown into side control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Weidman advances to full mount.
Weidman thowing shots but they're missing.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Weidman trying to control but Gatto is having none of it.

Weidman working for a submission but Gatto is keeping him at bay.

Weidman looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Weidman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Gatto has left one of his arms exposed and Weidman doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Gatto screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Chris Weidman decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
