Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Glenn Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles St Something (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying St Something's choice of entrance music: Fight The Power . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Glenn Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charles St Something!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
St Something shoots and misses

and Hughes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hughes.
Hughes lands an elbow that stopped St Something in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Charles St Something has been cut.

Hughes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hughes tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but St Something paws at him with a jab and circles away.

St Something rushes Hughes and presses him up against the cage.
Hughes has St Something pushed against the cage.
Hughes lands an elbow inside.

St Something is trying to pull guard but Hughes has him pressed against the cage.
Hughes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
St Something is working for takedown but Hughes is calmly controlling the position for now.
Glenn Hughes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles St Something.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from St Something is defended easily by Hughes.
St Something misses with a takedown attempt - Hughes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

St Something shoots in but no luck this time.

and Hughes holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Hughes's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

St Something takes an elbow to the temple.
St Something is still on wobbly legs! Can Hughes finish him?
St Something is trying to pull guard but Hughes turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Hughes lands a damaging elbow.

Hughes creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through St Something's defenses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



St Something looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

St Something wants to work for an arm triangle but Hughes is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Hughes avoiding damage under a succession of punches from St Something.

St Something looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

St Something is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
St Something wants to control but Hughes is keeping him busy.

St Something is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Hughes still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Hughes has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Hughes sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Hughes misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Hughes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hughes thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hughes throws some wild stikes that St Something manages to avoid easily.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hughes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
