Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Glen Starner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Azato Yasutsune (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Azato Yasutsune has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Glen Starner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Azato Yasutsune!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yasutsune avoids the body shot from Starner.
Yasutsune tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Yasutsune lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Starner pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Yasutsune lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Starner has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Starner and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Yasutsune takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Starner swings for the body but Yasutsune moves out of range.

Starner shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Starner showed some decent athleticism there.

Starner wants to pass the guard but Yasutsune is defending well.
Starner working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Starner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Starner misses with a head shot. Yasutsune uses the momentum to regain guard.
Yasutsune is trying to keep Starner in close.
Yasutsune utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Yasutsune really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Starner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Starner wants to pass the guard but Yasutsune is keeping the position.

Starner is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Yasutsune is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Starner swings for the body but Yasutsune moves out of range.

Glen Starner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yasutsune throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Starner misses with a hook. Yasutsune ducked under it nicely.

Azato Yasutsune is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Starner shoots in looking for a takedown but Yasutsune manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Starner's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Yasutsune throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Starner closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Glen Starner wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Yasutsune scores with a nice body kick.
Yasutsune's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Starner connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Yasutsune scrambles back to his feet.
Starner wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Starner jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Yasutsune walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Starner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yasutsune tries to avoid it but Starner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yasutsune to the ground. Yasutsune escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Starner looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Yasutsune has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Starner finds it's way round the side to connect with Yasutsune's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Starner tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Yasutsune was well out of range. Poor timing from Starner.

Yasutsune lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Starner steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Yasutsune. That one must have hurt.
Starner uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Yasutsune.
Yasutsune throws a leg kick but Starner sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Starner throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Starner lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Starner throws a lazy right hand but Yasutsune sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Starner is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Yasutsune gets caught flat footed, as Starner shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yasutsune can do anything to dispel that myth.

Starner wants to control but Yasutsune is keeping him busy.
Starner seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Glen Starner is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Glen Starner wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Yasutsune has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Yasutsune there as he acknowledges the shot.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Glen Starner.
Well Starner has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
