PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pedrinho Matador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fox is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Cant Be Touched by Roy Jones Jr.. Brian Fox told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedrinho Matador!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
20 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Fox!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fox lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Matador shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Fox to counter with a crisp jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fox cracks Matador with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Fox has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Matador to stand back up!
Fox moves into the clinch.
Matador keeps control of Fox as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Matador is trying to drag Fox to the mat but Fox just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Fox is trying to break the clinch but Matador has him pressed against the cage.
Fox will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Matador up against the cage.
Matador tries to pull guard but Fox forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pedrinho Matador. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fox breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fox drops Matador with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Matador looks back up at him and smiles so Fox waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
It looks like Pedrinho Matador has been cut.
Fox with a strong takedown there and he's ended up in side control.
Fox tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Fox decides to stand back up.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Matador misses with a takedown
and Fox holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Fox pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Fox turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Matador is breathing heavily.
Fox shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fox with the ground and pound from mount.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Matador is bucking up trying to escape but Fox cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Fox in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Matador is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fox is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Matador goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Fox!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Brian Fox!
