Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darren Colby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Domingo Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Domingo Chavez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Darren Colby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Domingo Chavez!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chavez dives in and grabs Colby's left leg, looking for a takedown. Colby pushes down on Chavez's head and hops out.
Chavez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Colby pinned against the cage. Colby gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Colby lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Domingo Chavez has been cut.

Chavez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Colby on his heels. He'll look to pass Colby's guard now, I'm sure.
Colby wants to stand but Chavez is controlling the position.
Chavez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Colby's guard.

Chavez seems to be working for a kimura but Colby defends the submission attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chavez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Colby is just riding it out for now. Chavez eventually gives up the hold.

Chavez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Colby's waist but Colby gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Chavez off to one side.
Darren Colby has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Domingo Chavez.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Colby cracks a nice hook into Chavez's ribs.
Colby moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Colby wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

That was a close round but I would say that Darren Colby will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Chavez seems to have recovered his senses.
Colby throws a hook but Chavez blocks it.
Colby misses with a lunging right hand

and Chavez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Colby's guard now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Colby is looking to stand up but Chavez isn't so interested in that idea.
Chavez advances position into side control!
Colby is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Chavez is controlling him well.

Chavez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Colby, who protects the arm well.

Chavez swings around for an armbar but Colby sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Chavez's guard.
Colby would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Chavez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chavez is trying to control the position but Colby postures up.
Chavez pulls Colby in close to prevent any damage.
Chavez working a defensive guard but Colby manages to pass into side control anyway.

Colby decides to stand back up. Colby steps back and let's Chavez get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Chavez.
Colby blocks a head kick by Chavez.
Chavez lands a head kick. Colby smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Chavez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Good exchange - Colby coming out on top.

Colby looks to land a combination. Chavez sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Chavez misses with a takedown attempt - Colby sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Chavez takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Darren Colby is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Colby drops Chavez with a big left hand! Chavez is injured, injured bad! Colby jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

In his post fight interview, Darren Colby started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
