PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Jennings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arcturus Ulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ulver has chosen Dunkelheit as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jennings throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jennings fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ulver checks it well.
Jennings lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ulver at a distance.
Jennings throws a looping overhand right but Ulver ducks down to avoid it.
Ulver uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jennings.
Ulver throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ulver drops his hands momentarily and Jennings takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Jennings throws a leg kick which misses Ulver's front leg but catches the back leg as Ulver tries to avoid it.
Ulver sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Ulver looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jennings lets loose with a powerful body kick. Ulver will feel that in the morning.

and Jennings counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ulver misses with a takedown attempt - Jennings sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Ulver goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jennings rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Ulver's guard! Nice work there by Jennings!

Ulver is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Ulver throws his legs up looking for a submission but Jennings uses it to pass to side control.

Ulver escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jennings gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Arcturus Ulver showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Jennings throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jennings blocks a leg kick.
Jennings swings for the body but Ulver moves out of range.
Jennings lands with an uppercut that bounces Ulver off the cage and back into rage.
Ulver looks to land a left hand but Jennings moved out of range nicely.
A swing and a miss from Jennings.
Jennings throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jennings lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Ulver connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Ulver shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jennings but Jennings pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ulver is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jennings postures up and lands a big shot to Ulver's brow.
Jennings controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Ulver had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jennings is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ulver Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jennings's back instead.
Jennings needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation.

Ulver is persistently looking for the submission but Jennings is defending it well.
