Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Faber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Wangenheim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Faber comes to the cage accompanied by Rich Boy - Throw Some D's . Sean Wangenheim will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sean Wangenheim!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wangenheim misses with a double jab

and Faber counters with a shoot takedown. Wangenheim fights it but they end up in guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Faber trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Faber is fighting to break Wangenheim's control of his arms but Wangenheim is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Wangenheim is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Wangenheim looking to hit a scissor sweep but Faber is one step ahead there.
Wangenheim is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Wangenheim is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sean Wangenheim was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Wangenheim wants to clinch up but Faber keeps it at a distance.

Wangenheim darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Wangenheim wants to pass the guard but Faber is defending well.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wangenheim connects with a nice short shot to Faber's temple.
Wangenheim thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Faber tries to roll over but Wangenheim keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wangenheim sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Faber defending well though.
Faber on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Faber tries to get out of the position.

Wangenheim stalling.
Wangenheim trying to control from Faber's half guard. Faber has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Wangenheim trying to control but Faber is working from the bottom.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sean Wangenheim hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Wangenheim instigates a clinch.

Wangenheim has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Faber after a bit of a struggle.
Faber gets underhooks to prevent Wangenheim's takedown attempt.

Faber tightens his grip and picks Wangenheim up, before dumping him to the ground. Wangenheim manages to land in guard.
Wangenheim wants to sweep here but Faber controlling him for the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wangenheim is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wangenheim swings around for an armbar but Faber sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Wangenheim's guard.
Wangenheim wants to stand and escape but Faber is having none of it.
Wangenheim can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Faber controls the pace.
Faber has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Wangenheim looking for a sweep. Not yet Wangenheim, not yet.

Wangenheim is adopting a defensive guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Chris Faber has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Wangenheim fails with the takedown.

Wangenheim moves into the clinch.

Wangenheim ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wangenheim no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wangenheim looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Wangenheim is trying to control the position but Faber postures up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Faber stopping the sweep attempt from Wangenheim.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sean Wangenheim was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Wangenheim doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Wangenheim takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Wangenheim is breathing heavily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Faber.
Wangenheim is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Faber asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Faber tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Wangenheim sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Faber is looking to take a break and control but Wangenheim is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wangenheim wants to get back to full guard but Faber has passed into side control.
Wangenheim tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Faber wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean Wangenheim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Horrible takedown by Wangenheim or perhaps it was just good defense by Faber which made him look bad.
Wangenheim tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Faber manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Faber manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Wangenheim on his heels. He'll look to pass Wangenheim's guard now, I'm sure.

Faber is thwarting Wangenheim's attempts to control the position.
Wangenheim wants to get back to full guard.

Faber pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wangenheim is keeping the position for now.
Faber stops Wangenheim from standing up.
Faber wants to control from the top but Wangenheim keeps moving.

We're going to have a standup here because Chris Faber wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Faber closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wangenheim did well to prevent Faber getting side control.

Wangenheim wants to improve his position but Faber is controlling well.
Faber content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Faber is stalling here. Wangenheim is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Faber seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Wangenheim has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Faber looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Wangenheim!

Well Wangenheim has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
