Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Melanie Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Lobo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Lobo looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Melanie Powers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Lobo!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Lobo both land. Nice combination.
Lobo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Lobo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Powers as he avoids it easily.
Powers closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lobo circles away.
Horrible takedown by Powers or perhaps it was just good defense by Lobo which made him look bad.
Powers fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Melanie Powers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lobo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Lobo throws a nice inside leg kick.

Lobo rushes Powers and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lobo tries to break the clinch but Powers is controlling the position.
Lobo can't break the clinch.

Powers decides to pull guard.

Powers has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lobo off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Lobo feints and as Powers raises his hands in defense, Lobo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Powers pushes Lobo off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Lobo with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

The fight stays on the outside here - Powers looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lobo misses with a wild combination.
Powers shoots in for a takedown but Lobo shows good takedown defense.
Powers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lobo but Lobo pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lobo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Powers.
Powers doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Lobo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Lobo wants to stand up but Powers has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Lobo stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Powers to get to his feet.

so Lobo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Powers looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Powers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lobo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Powers is tightening it up a little... Lobo has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Lobo reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Lobo taps out! nice BJJ there by Powers!
