Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rex Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Ludwig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ludwig is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Wasp - I wanna be somebody. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jay Ludwig!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Ludwig misses its intended target.
Williams is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ludwig sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Ludwig misses with an uppercut

and Williams counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Ludwig tries to kick Williams off but Williams keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Ludwig is trying to get back to full guard.
Williams seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ludwig is looking to improve his position.

Williams is working for a submission of some sort.
Ludwig keeping hold of Williams's head, controlling as best he can.

Ludwig is looking to control Williams's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ludwig avoid being mounted?

Ludwig can't do much from the bottom here.
Ludwig is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Williams off and has taken his back!

Williams rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Williams is not content to let Ludwig control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ludwig landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Williams wants to control but Ludwig is keeping busy.
Williams is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Williams regains full guard. Nicely done.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ludwig throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Ludwig keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Williams's head.
Ludwig postures up.
Ludwig with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Ludwig passes Williams's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Ludwig is keen to just control but Williams is a slippery customer.
Williams regains full guard. Nicely done.
Williams looking for a sweep. Not yet Williams, not yet.

Williams keeping moving, preventing Ludwig from controlling successfully.
Williams controls Ludwig momentarily but Ludwig frees himself.
Ludwig trying to control but Williams is working from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Williams counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Williams drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Williams jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ludwig is controlling Williams's posture.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Williams wanted to stand there but Ludwig had control of the position.
Williams content to stall in guard here.
Ludwig pulls Williams in close to his closed guard and prevents Williams from doing any damage or advancing position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ludwig throws an off balance right hand
and Williams counters with a left and a right that stings Ludwig.
Williams walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ludwig connects with a nice looking jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rex Williams dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Williams shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ludwig's guard.

Williams is pushing down on Ludwig's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ludwig is fighting to maintain full guard but Williams has managed to sneak the leg through.
Williams wants to pass to mount but Ludwig is defending the position.

Williams postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ludwig to stand up.
Ludwig lands with a hook. Williams tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Williams circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ludwig displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Williams.
Ludwig misses with a looping right.
Williams moves out of range as Ludwig strikes.
Ludwig lands an overhand right.
Ludwig cracks a nice hook into Williams's ribs.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ludwig. Williams does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ludwig tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Williams paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ludwig lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


Williams is rocked!
Ludwig throws an overhand right that drops Williams like a sack of potatoes! Ludwig dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jay Ludwig! Jay Ludwig retains his featherweight title!
Jay Ludwig was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
