The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch lands to the side of Shepard 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Bo Haize seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Haize looks to score with a jab to the body but Shepard is just out of range.
Haize jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Haize scores with a kick to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shepard is defended easily by Haize.
Shepard moves out of range as Haize throws a body kick.

Haize gets caught napping as Shepard dives in and scores a takedown. Haize manages to retain guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Shepard postures up in Haize's guard and throws a big left but Haize blocks it.
Haize knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shepard on the ground.
Shepard is looking to work some ground and pound but Haize has wrist control.

Shepard is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Shepard has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Shepard drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Shepard seems to have locked his on tight now - Haize screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Shepard, as he picks up the win!
