The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carwin tries to clinch but Silva is having none of it.
Silva just misses with a punch to the body.

Carwin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Silva manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Silva misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Silva lands with an uppercut that bounces Carwin off the cage and back into range.

Silva connects with a right hand. Carwin shakes it off.
Silva is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Carwin needs to keep his hands up - Silva had a free shot at his head there.
Silva throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Silva cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Silva displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Carwin throws out the jab.

Carwin throws a hook to the side of Silva's head but Silva sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Silva moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Carwin looks gassed!

Silva scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Carwin takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Carwin takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
A solid leg kick lands there for Silva.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silva cracks Carwin with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Silva has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Carwin to stand back up!

Crack! Silva connects with the perfect overhand right and Carwin falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Silva!

After the fight, Shogun Silva was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
