Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicholas Brody (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicholas Brody will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Don Abbott!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nicholas Brody!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbott swings for the body but Brody moves out of range.
Abbott fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Brody looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Abbott gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Brody.
Abbott misses with a left hand
and Brody counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Nicholas Brody seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brody throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Abbott misses with a straight right.
Brody connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Brody misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Abbott.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Abbott uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Brody.
Brody tries to bum rush Abbott with a series of wild strikes but Abbott uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Abbott takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.


It looks like Don Abbott has been cut.
Abbott shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brody as he jumps to the side.
Abbott blocks a jab.

Brody avoids the body shot from Abbott.
The fighters circling - Brody throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Brody thows a left - swing and a miss!
Abbott swings for the body but Brody moves out of range.
Abbott shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Brody defends it nicely.
Brody throws out a loose jab but Abbott uses good head movement to avoid it.

Abbott closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Abbott lands in his opponent's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brody can do anything to dispel that myth.

Brody is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Abbott is controlling him.
Brody has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Abbott tries for a takedown but Brody sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Abbott lands a nice hook to Brody's body. Brody takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Horrible takedown by Abbott or perhaps it was just good defense by Brody which made him look bad.

Brody is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Abbott paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

The crowd cheers as Brody lands an impressive looking overhand right. Abbott doesn't seem phased though.
Abbott stalks Brody and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Brody's face. Brody staggers backwards, shaken.

Brody smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters circling - Brody throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Brody swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Abbott counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Abbott throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Brody is looking to improve his position.
Abbott seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brody does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Abbott looks to land a strike but Brody avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Brody throws the left hand but Abbott avoids the punch easily.

Abbott throws a hook but Brody avoids it easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Brody might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Don Abbott's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Brody throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Brody lands a jab to the head.
Abbott slips a straight right by Brody.
Brody thows a body shot but no joy.
Abbott tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brody sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Abbott somewhat.
Abbott shoots in for a takedown but Brody shows good takedown defense.

Brody drops Abbott with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Abbott looks back up at him and smiles so Brody waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Brody feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Abbotts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!


Jeez, Don Abbott's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Brody uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Abbott has time to react.
