The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
BeefHooked throws a hook but Coogan blocks it.
Coogan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from BeefHooked.
BeefHooked misses with an uppercut

and Coogan counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

BeefHooked cracks Coogan with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
BeefHooked loads up on a big right hand but Coogan slips the punch.

Coogan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Coogan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Coogan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as BeefHooked sprawls well. BeefHooked wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Coogan gets slowly back to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that WhaleOil BeefHooked will probably get the nod.

Coogan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches BeefHooked napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Coogan drops back, looking for a kneebar! BeefHooked looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. BeefHooked looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from BeefHooked!

Coogan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and BeefHooked defends well.

BeefHooked's jab looks to have found its range, popping Coogan under the eye.
Coogan tries to score a power double leg takedown but BeefHooked sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Coogan somewhat.

Coogan creates some space and throws a big elbow, but BeefHooked sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Coogan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. BeefHooked knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
