PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hanibal Lector (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kerry Mcgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcgee is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Superman's Worst Nightmare. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hanibal Lector!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kerry Mcgee!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgee circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mcgee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lector pinned against the cage. Lector gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lector misses with a head kick.
Mcgee throws a lazy uppercut
and Mcgee takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Lector moves in looking to clinch but Mcgee pushes him off.

Lector gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Mcgee is looking to take this one to the mat.
Lector lands an elbow inside that Mcgee shrugs off.
Lector lands a damaging elbow.


It looks like Kerry Mcgee has been cut.
Lector wants to get back to striking at distance but Mcgee won't allow it.
Lector tries to throw a body punch but Mcgee avoids it by throwing Lector back against the cage.

Lector breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

A combination from Lector does no damage.
Nice sprawl there from Mcgee as Lector shoots in.
Mcgee swats away the attempt to clinch by Lector.

Mcgee moves into the clinch.
Lector prevents the takedown attempt.
Hanibal Lector has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kerry Mcgee.

Lector breaks the clinch.
Mcgee throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Mcgee moves into the clinch successfully.

Lector escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kerry Mcgee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mcgee changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lector looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Mcgee advances to mount.
Mcgee putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lector wants to get back to his feet.
Mcgee has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mcgee lands a nice shot to the head.
Mcgee controlling the position easily from mount.
Lector is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Mcgee has taken his back!
Lector knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mcgee on the ground.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mcgee is working the ground and pound. Can Lector escape?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lector is trying to remain composed but Mcgee is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Mcgee is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Lector knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Lector for a finish.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kerry Mcgee dominated that round.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Mcgee closes the distance and clinches.
Lector throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mcgee blocks it with crossed arms.

Lector manages to break the clinch.
Mcgee shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lector but Lector pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lector is looking to clinch.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lector stuffs the takedown attempt from Mcgee. Mcgee gets slowly back to his feet.
Mcgee takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Lector shoots and misses

and Mcgee counters by moving into the clinch.

Mcgee is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Lector can't fight it off and eventually Mcgee manages to take the fight to the floor. Lector looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcgee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lector swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mcgee is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Kerry Mcgee was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Mcgee fails to land the takedown.
Hanibal Lector has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kerry Mcgee.

Mcgee has managed to clinch.
Lector wants to get back to striking at distance but Mcgee won't allow it.
Lector lands with a left to the head.
Mcgee drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Lector gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lector is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Mcgee is keeping busy.
Lector is looking to break free of the clinch but Mcgee has double underhooks.
Lector tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mcgee's elbow.
Lector lands a knee to the head.
Lector with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Lector connects with a nasty looking knee right to Mcgee's face.

Mcgee tightens his grip and picks Lector up, before dumping him to the ground. Lector manages to land in guard.
Mcgee trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Lector is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mcgee is controlling him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mcgee slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Lector preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kerry Mcgee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Mcgee keeps the fight on the outside.
Lector tries to clinch

and Mcgee counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lector won't be happy with that.
Mcgee just content to control the position.
Lector on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Lector pushes Mcgee away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mcgee gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Mcgee decides to stand up, so the ref orders Lector to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lector throws a series of punches but Mcgee moves out of range.

Mcgee swats away the attempt to clinch by Lector.
Lector fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mcgee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lector's waist but Lector gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mcgee off to one side.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mcgee drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kerry Mcgee wasn't active enough on the ground.
Lector misses with a wild combination.

No luck for Mcgee with that takedown attempt.

Mcgee fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lector sprawls well initially but Mcgee persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Mcgee seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Lector is trying to stand back up but Mcgee is controlling him
Hanibal Lector has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kerry Mcgee is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kerry Mcgee wasn't active enough on the ground.
Lector works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kerry Mcgee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Mcgee winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
