PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight kickboxing rules bout between Chaz Wong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brutus Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Chaz Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Brutus Maximus!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and James Atkins.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wong looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Wong doesn't manage to clinch there - Maximus circles away.
A combination from Maximus does no damage.
Maximus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Maximus looks low and kicks high, catching Wong right on the side of the head, sending him crashing to the canvas! Will he be able to beat the count? 3,4,5 - he's already back to his feet and ready to go! Let's see if he's still with it!

It looks like Chaz Wong has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Maximus lands a front kick to the face, that drops Wong to the canvas! Is he dazed or just shocked? He's back to his feet and the referee is going to allow him to continue the fight!

Wong is rocked!
Maximus keeps the fight on the outside.
Oh Wong is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Maximus looks to score with a jab to the body but Wong is just out of range.
Wong seems to have got his legs back now.
Maximus throws a sloppy head kick and Wong moves out of range easily.
Maximus misses with a left hand

and Wong counters by clinching up.
Wong looking to throw knees to the head but Maximus is blocking nicely.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Wong takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Wong pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes.

Maximus pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Maximus throws a head kick but Wong moves out of range.
Wong closes the distance looking to clinch

and whilst Wong still has his hands down, Maximus counters with a perfectly aimed head kick that sends Wong crashing to the mat! Will he recover? 3,4,5,6,7 - he's back up! The referee looks into his eyes and asks him to walk forwards. He's going to allow this one to continue but will Wong be able to survive another onslaught?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Maximus counters with a good, hard body kick but Wong shrugs it off.

Maximus misses with a kick to the body.
Brutus Maximus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maximus scores with a nice body kick.
Wong blocks a head kick by Maximus.

Wong walks into a straight right hand and goes down! Maximus rushes to a neutral corner so the count doesn't get delayed but Wong has made it back to his feet on 5. He's OK so we're back to the action.

Wong really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wong is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Maximus just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Wong has gone limp and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Brutus Maximus!
After winning the bout, Brutus Maximus thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
