Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zach vanEsselstyn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugh Jass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). vanEsselstyn comes to the cage accompanied by Day and Night. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hugh Jass!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jass tries to clinch up but vanEsselstyn circles away and keeps his distance.
Nice takedown defense from vanEsselstyn. No joy for Jass on that attempt.
Some wild striking there from vanEsselstyn.
Jass misses with a takedown attempt - vanEsselstyn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jass feints and as vanEsselstyn raises his hands in defense, Jass changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
vanEsselstyn wants to stand up but Jass is controlling him.
Jass is looking to work some ground and pound but vanEsselstyn has wrist control.

vanEsselstyn looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Jass passes into side control.
Jass cracks vanEsselstyn with a big elbow.
Jass is chipping away with strikes.
vanEsselstyn is trying to get back to his feet.

Jass working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
vanEsselstyn is looking for a sweep.
Jass should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Jass landing strikes from the mount and vanEsselstyn is in trouble!


It looks like Zach vanEsselstyn has been cut.
vanEsselstyn is working to get back to half guard.
Jass putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Jass won't let vanEsselstyn get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee warns vanEsselstyn that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Jass goes for an armbar but he's not got it… vanEsselstyn turns into him and now he's in Jass's guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Jass tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. vanEsselstyn smiles and moves away.
Hugh Jass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
vanEsselstyn throws a nice looking combination but Jass bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
vanEsselstyn misses with a hook.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jass shoots for a double leg takedown but vanEsselstyn sprawls well. He's pushed Jass's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
vanEsselstyn looks to land a right hand but Jass moved out of range.

vanEsselstyn instigates a clinch.
Jass has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. vanEsselstyn is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

vanEsselstyn breaks the clinch.
Jass looks for a takedown but vanEsselstyn sprawls well.
Jass tries for a takedown but vanEsselstyn sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
vanEsselstyn lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Jass backs up against the cage.


It looks like Hugh Jass has been cut.
Jass takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
vanEsselstyn bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Jass shoots in and drives through. vanEsselstyn sprawls well.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
vanEsselstyn lands a with a good body shot.
A choreographed right hand from vanEsselstyn misses the target.

Jass moves into the clinch.
Jass wants to break the clinch but can't.
vanEsselstyn is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Jass pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Jass tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. vanEsselstyn smiles and moves away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jass shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with vanEsselstyn but vanEsselstyn pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Jass feints and as vanEsselstyn raises his hands in defense, Jass changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
vanEsselstyn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jass trying to control but vanEsselstyn is working from the bottom.
Jass content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Jass stops vanEsselstyn from standing up.
Jass passes vanEsselstyn's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Jass prevents vanEsselstyn from standing back up.
Jass wants to lay and pray for a moment but vanEsselstyn keeps working.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
vanEsselstyn keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

vanEsselstyn pushes Jass off and gets back to his feet.
Jass wants to clinch up but vanEsselstyn keeps it at a distance.
vanEsselstyn fakes the leg kick and cracks Jass in the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Zach vanEsselstyn will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


vanEsselstyn lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Jass is looking to close the distance but vanEsselstyn sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Jass crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Jass is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
