Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Hamada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steven Hamada!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Damien Edna and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hamada drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hamada wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Jones seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Jones not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jones keeping full guard, as Hamada tries to pass.

Jones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones wants to sweep here but Hamada controlling him for the moment.
Hamada wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.
Hamada is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Jones working for a triangle but Hamada defends it easily.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hamada can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jones wants to sweep here but Hamada controlling him for the moment.
Hamada missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Jones throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Jones is trying to hold Hamada in close to prevent damage but Hamada has managed to pass into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hamada is looking for a kimura here.
Hamada is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Hamada content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Jones trying to control but Hamada postures up.
Hamada wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.
Jones wants to control but Hamada is keeping busy.

Jones looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones wants to control but Hamada is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Jones gets back to full guard.

Hamada avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hamada can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hamada got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hamada has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted.
Hamada wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.

Hamada decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hamada tried to score with a low kick but Jones checks it.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Hamada tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.

Hamada takes the fight into the clinch.
Jones is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hamada gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tony Jones will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nice sprawl there from Hamada as Jones shoots in.
Hamada defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jones.
Hamada doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hamada's waist but Hamada gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Jones is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hamada sees it coming and defends easily.
Hamada preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Jones is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hamada doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jones.

Jones wants to pass the guard but Hamada is defending well.
Hamada tries to kick Jones off but Jones keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jones trying to control from half guard but Hamada is working away.
Hamada wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hamada is trying to stand.

Jones seems to be working for a kimura but Hamada defends the submission attempt.
Jones missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Jones is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hamada wants to get back to his feet.
Jones throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Tony Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hamada is looking to improve his position.
Jones passes to side control.

Jones has an Americana. Hamada didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Jones is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Jones hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Tony Jones!
