Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nena Apina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gilles De Rais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gilles De Rais will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nena Apina!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gilles De Rais!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. De Rais catches Apina right on the button with a cross.

Apina manages to get an easy takedown there - catching De Rais on his heels. He'll look to pass De Rais's guard now, I'm sure.

De Rais is looking for a triangle but Apina pushes his legs off easily.

De Rais had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Apina defends it easily.
De Rais utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

De Rais escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Apina gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

De Rais has his foot on Apina's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Apina works his way back into a safe position though.
Apina throws a big right hand that misses.
Apina forces his way into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
De Rais is looking for a sweep. Apina is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

De Rais is refusing to be controlled, as Apina sits in half guard.
De Rais has hold of Apina's hands but Apina slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Apina takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Apina looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks De Rais with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Apina winds up and cracks De Rais with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
De Rais is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

De Rais is desperately trying to improve his position but Apina has a good base and remains in mount.

De Rais bucks up and throws Apina to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Apina tries to clinch up but De Rais circles away and keeps his distance.
Gilles De Rais seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

De Rais jabbing away but nothing is landing.
De Rais swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Apina walks into a straight right hand from De Rais.

Apina scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Apina wants to control from the top but De Rais keeps moving.
Apina might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Apina slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

De Rais escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Apina gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Apina is working De Rais over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Apina is in close to De Rais's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

De Rais is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Apina keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of De Rais's head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Apina moves nicely into side control.
Apina works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Apina gets to mount! De Rais was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Apina cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Apina breaks from De Rais's wrist control and lands an elbow.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nena Apina dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

De Rais misses with a looping left.
Apina takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Apina dives in and grabs De Rais's left leg, looking for a takedown. De Rais pushes down on Apina's head and hops out.
Apina slips a straight right by De Rais.
De Rais throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Apina drives through with a takedown into guard.

Apina lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Apina has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of De Rais's face.
Apina postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. De Rais looks a forlorn figure.

Nena Apina overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
