The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Shinomori finds it's target.
Rodriguez shoots in but Shinomori avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rodriguez checks a low kick from Shinomori.

and Shinomori counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rodriguez's guard now.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shinomori is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rodriguez defends it well.
