Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Justin McNier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Sully (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Justin McNier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Anderson Sully!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McNier tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Sully manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - McNier looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Sully looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for McNier!
McNier is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
McNier is looking to improve his position but Sully isn't that keen on the idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sully trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Sully throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
McNier tries to control the position but Sully now has his back.
McNier just trying to survive but Sully is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
McNier tries to roll but Sully sticks to his back.

Sully is not going to allow McNier to sit and survive in this position.
McNier is trying to break free.
Sully throwing sloppy strikes.
Sully doesn't have the hooks in and McNier manages to turn into his guard.
McNier is looking to stand up but Sully won't let him.
Sully utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sully throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

McNier stops Sully from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McNier won't allow Sully to sweep him here.
Sully is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sully lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McNier!
McNier is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
McNier working to try and regain half guard.
Sully tries to control but McNier wriggling away.

Sully working for a submission but McNier is keeping him at bay.

McNier can't escape the position.
Sully controlling the position easily from mount.
McNier is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sully misses with a head shot.

McNier tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sully controlling from the full mount.

Sully working for a guillotine from mount but McNier is in no mood to give up.
Sully tries to control but McNier wriggling away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sully won't let McNier get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Sully can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McNier is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson Sully dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


McNier swats away the attempt to clinch by Sully.

Sully clinches up with McNier and pushes him back against the cage.
Sully content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Sully drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McNier gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A shot in the inside from McNier.
McNier looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
McNier is trying to break the clinch but Sully has him pressed against the cage.
McNier tries for a takedown. No joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sully gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from McNier.
McNier tries to pull guard but Sully holds him up against the cage and eventually McNier drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin McNier. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McNier keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Sully's efforts to push away.
McNier stops a takedown attempt from Sully.

McNier moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Anderson Sully has been cut.
Sully shoots in but McNier avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sully slaps away a takedown attempt from McNier, before circling back to the center of the mat.

McNier throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sully's waist but Sully gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McNier off to one side.
McNier thuds a left hand into Sully's body.
Sully stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sully wants it to stay on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sully throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sully shoots in for a double leg but McNier sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sully throws a head kick that misses.
Sully shoots in for a takedown but McNier shows good takedown defense.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sully throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McNier's waist but McNier gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sully off to one side.

McNier throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sully was covering up waiting for the punch and McNier finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Sully wants to stand up but McNier is controlling him.
Sully is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Sully tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McNier is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
McNier knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sully on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Justin McNier just wasn't active enough.
Sully slaps away a takedown attempt from McNier, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McNier tries to clinch up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McNier leaves Sully with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
McNier digs a good hook to Sully's body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Anderson Sully's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


McNier wants to clinch up but Sully keeps it at a distance.
Sully throws a series of punches but McNier avoids them all with ease.
The fight stays on the outside here - McNier looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sully closes the distance and clinches up with McNier, looking for a takedown. Sully pushes McNier against the cage but McNier circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Sully moves into range and clinches up with McNier.

McNier is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Sully is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables McNier to keep the fight standing.

McNier jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sully walks away with a smile on his face. McNier gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
McNier lands a head kick. Sully smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
McNier fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sully dives in and grabs McNier's left leg, looking for a takedown. McNier pushes down on Sully's head and hops out.
Justin McNier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Sully.
Sully takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sully throws a lazy right hand but McNier sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Sully throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sully.

McNier looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Sully!

McNier get's back to his feet.
Justin McNier is winning the standup battle so far.

McNier tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sully swats him away and circles back towards the center.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McNier shoots in for a takedown but Sully shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Sully throws a front kick aimed at McNier's knee but McNier avoids it well.
McNier leaves Sully with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Sully tries to keep at a distance but McNier has taken the fight into the clinch.

McNier breaks from the clinch.
Justin McNier is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sully shoots in but no luck this time.

McNier gets a clinch.

McNier jumps guard and drags Sully to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Sully trying to control but McNier is working from the bottom.
McNier not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Sully avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

McNier pushes Sully off and scrambles back to his feet.
McNier tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sully swivels and escapes.
McNier keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McNier moves into range and clinches up with Sully.
McNier taking a breather.
McNier jumps guard but Sully stands there with McNier around his waist. McNier gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Sully is looking to take this one to the mat.
Sully tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. McNier smiles and moves away.

McNier feints and as Sully raises his hands in defense, McNier changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
McNier has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Justin McNier showed his dominance in that final round.
Well McNier has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
