PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cody Yeary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pwnasaurus Rex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yeary kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Lose my mind- Young Buck. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cody Yeary!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pwnasaurus Rex!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rex dips to his left and cracks Yeary with an uppercut!
Rex fails with a takedown attempt.
Rex fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Yeary avoids it really well and circles away.
Rex uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Yeary.
Yeary tries a low kick but Rex avoids it.
Rex has a takedown stuffed.
Cody Yeary has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pwnasaurus Rex.
Rex dodges the punch combination from Yeary.
Yeary throws a series of punches but Rex moves out of range.

and Rex connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Yeary looks to land a left hand but Rex moved out of range nicely.
Cody Yeary seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rex shoots in looking for a takedown but Yeary manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rex's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Yeary tries to score with a low kick but Rex moves his leg out of the way.

Rex closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Yeary did well to prevent Rex getting side control.
Rex has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Yeary really wants to buck Rex off and get back to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Yeary takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Yeary is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Rex misses with a head shot.
The referee warns Yeary that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Rex has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Yeary's face.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rex can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Yeary is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pwnasaurus Rex dominated that round.
That's time! Yeary's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Yeary tries to bum rush Rex with a series of wild strikes but Rex uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Yeary throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Rex feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rex looking to sit in guard and control but Yeary gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Rex manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Yeary manages to get himself to full guard.
Yeary knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rex on the ground.
Rex postures up in Yeary's guard and throws a big left but Yeary blocks it.

Yeary is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rex is controlling him.
Rex is working Yeary over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rex's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Rex lands a couple of elbows.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Yeary is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Rex in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rex wants to control from the top but Yeary keeps moving.
Rex is looking to work some ground and pound but Yeary has wrist control.
Yeary has momentary wrist control but Rex slips an elbow through the middle.

Rex winds up and cracks Yeary with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rex thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Yeary's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Yeary is refusing to be controlled, as Rex sits in half guard.
Rex slips a nice elbow through Yeary's hands, connecting with Yeary's forehead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pwnasaurus Rex showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

and Rex counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Yeary misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Rex has taken the fight to the clinch.

Rex's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rex takes one to the chin there.
No joy there for Yeary, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Yeary throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rex shoots for a double leg takedown but Yeary sprawls well. He's pushed Rex's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Yeary scores with a one two! Rex had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Yeary looks to land a combination but Rex avoids it well.
Horrible takedown by Rex or perhaps it was just good defense by Yeary which made him look bad.

Rex throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Yeary works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Cody Yeary has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Rex is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Yeary defends it well.

Yeary is squirming around, avoiding Rex's attempts to control the action.

Yeary's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Rex lands a big elbow.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rex lands a big shot there that rocks Yeary but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Oh Yeary is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rex has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rex loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Yeary scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Rex land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Rex stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pwnasaurus Rex!
An out of breath Pwnasaurus Rex thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
