Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brutus Landry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alejandro Zapata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zapata has chosen Tres Delinquentes as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brutus Landry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alejandro Zapata!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zapata checks a leg kick.
Brutus Landry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Landry swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Landry throws a body kick that misses.
Zapata cracks Landry with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Landry goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Alejandro Zapata has been cut.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Landry.
Zapata blocks a head kick by Landry.
Landry throws a right and a left that Zapata avoids nicely.
Zapata dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zapata checks a low kick from Landry.
Zapata on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Landry. Landry obviously looking to wear him down.
Zapata throws a right and a left that Landry avoids nicely.
Landry misses with a body kick.
Landry scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Zapata misses the shot to the body.
Landry looks to throw a body kick
and Zapata counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Landry scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Zapata doesn't seem bothered though.
Landry does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
A head kick misses from Landry.
Zapata lands a slapping body shot.
Landry throws a sloppy head kick and Zapata moves out of range easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Zapata.
Zapata moves out of range as Landry strikes.
Landry swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Landry.

Zapata closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Landry to the mat! Landry manages to get full guard.
Zapata passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Landry knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zapata on the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Zapata tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Zapata has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Zapata is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Landry is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Landry tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zapata has hold of Landry's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Landry tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Zapata cranks the arm and Landry screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Landry, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Alejandro Zapata!
