PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Todd Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ulquiorra Cifer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by The Game, 50 Cent - Hate It Or Love It . We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Todd Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ulquiorra Cifer!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cifer as he avoids it easily.
Jones shoots in for a double leg but Cifer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Cifer slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Todd Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cifer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively.

Jones drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jones passes Cifer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Cifer is defending well.
Jones looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cifer knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Todd Jones just wasn't active enough.
Cifer throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range.
Todd Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Cifer, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Cifer against the cage but Cifer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cifer avoids it really well and circles away.
Cifer's corner calls for a 1-2. Cifer obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Jones dodges the punch combination from Cifer.
Cifer lands with an uppercut that bounces Jones off the cage and back into range.

Jones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cifer was covering up waiting for the punch and Jones finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cifer can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jones controls the pace.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Todd Jones wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jones has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Cifer looks gassed!
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown but Cifer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jones's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Cifer tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cifer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cifer connects with an inside leg kick.
Cifer stuffs the takedown attempt from Jones. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.
Cifer throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Jones counters with a takedown into side control.
Jones happy to just control the position for now.
Jones's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Todd Jones dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Cifer throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range.
Cifer listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Cifer lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Jones fails with the takedown.
Cifer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jones.
Cifer throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cifer as he jumps to the side.

Jones fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cifer to the ground. Jones is now in Cifer's guard.
Jones controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Todd Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jones has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Cifer is breathing heavily.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Nice takedown defense from Cifer. No joy for Jones on that attempt.
Cifer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cifer wants it to stay on the feet.
Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cifer pinned against the cage. Cifer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Cifer throws a nice inside leg kick.
Cifer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Jones momentarily.

Jones drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cifer keeps working.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones advances to full mount.
Jones works his way to his opponent's back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones controls the action.
Cifer should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Jones seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cifer for as long as he can get away with.

Jones has managed to slip his arm under Cifer's chin. This could be all over... yep, Cifer is tapping out! Submission win for Jones.
