PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michael Ramos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michael Ramos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jake Callahan!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Callahan misses with a wild body shot.
Ramos throws a head kick that misses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ramos is defended easily by Callahan.
Ramos moves out of range of the strikes.
Nice takedown defense from Callahan. No joy for Ramos on that attempt.
Callahan fails with the takedown.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Callahan.
Callahan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ramos circles away.
Michael Ramos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Callahan.
Callahan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Callahan fails to land with a series of punches.

A combination from Ramos does no damage.
Ramos is trying hard to land a takedown here. Callahan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Callahan blocks a head kick by Ramos.
Callahan throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Ramos holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Callahan is trying to force a seperation but Ramos has the dominant position.
Ramos stops a takedown attempt from Callahan.
Ramos is stalling here.

Ramos's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ramos is looking to land body kicks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Callahan throws a right and a left that both miss.
Michael Ramos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ramos leaves Callahan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Callahan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ramos.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Callahan.
Ramos slips a jab and a cross from Callahan.

Ramos gets a clinch.
Callahan is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Callahan goes for a takedown attempt but Ramos pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ramos doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Callahan jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Callahan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ramos is fending him off so far but Callahan persists. Nope, Ramos circles away and we're back to standing.
Ramos shoots for a takedown but Callahan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Ramos has closed the distance and engaged Callahan in a clinch.

Ramos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ramos closes the distance and clinches up with Callahan, looking for a takedown. Ramos pushes Callahan against the cage but Callahan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ramos tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Callahan swivels and escapes.
Ramos slaps away a takedown attempt from Callahan, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ramos will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Callahan misses with a lunging right hand

and Ramos counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Callahan manages to get to full guard.
Ramos throwing strikes but missing.
Callahan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ramos throws a strike but Callahan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Callahan throws a big right hand that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Ramos dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ramos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Callahan tries to avoid it but Ramos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Callahan to the ground. Callahan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ramos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Callahan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ramos but Ramos pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Callahan dodges the punch combination from Ramos.

Ramos moves into the clinch.
Callahan is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Ramos jumps into guard, dragging Callahan to the mat.

Callahan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ramos wants to improve his position but instead Callahan has moved into half guard.
Ramos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Callahan on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Callahan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ramos defends it well.
Ramos on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ramos tries to get out of the position.

Callahan is working for a submission of some sort.

Callahan is trying to work for a kimura but Ramos is defending well.

Callahan maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Ramos could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Callahan has cracked it and Ramos is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Callahan!
