The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chaney throws a right and a left that Rua avoids nicely.
Chaney shoots in and drives through. Rua sprawls well.
Chaney lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rua circles away quickly and effectively.

Rua fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Chaney sprawls well initially but Rua persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Rua is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Chaney tries to kick Rua off but Rua keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ninja Rua was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Chaney shoots in looking for a takedown but Rua manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Chaney's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Rua rushes Chaney and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Rua is trying to pull guard but Chaney has him pressed against the cage.

Rua is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ninja Rua wasn't active enough on the ground.
Rua rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Chaney moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Alex Chaney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Rua counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Rua is nestled in close to Chaney, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Rua decides to stand up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rua clinches up with Chaney and pushes him back against the cage.

Rua cracks Chaney with a big right hand but Chaney just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Ninja Rua has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Chaney is looking for a sweep.

Rua decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Rua looks to land a body kick but Chaney moved away.

Rua decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Rua takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chaney is bucking up trying to escape but Rua cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rua tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Rua has control of Chaney's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Chaney regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chaney swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Rua scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Rua has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rua throws a leg kick but Chaney moved away.
Chaney moves in looking to clinch but Rua pushes him off.
Rua wants to clinch up but Chaney keeps it at a distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ninja Rua showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Rua closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on Chaney's face as Rua controls the position.

Well Rua has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
