PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trefor Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Martello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Back in Black - AC/DC. Max Martello is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martello closes the distance and clinches.
Thomas is trying to push Martello away but Martello has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Martello works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Martello is pushing down on Thomas's leg trying to pass to half guard. Thomas is fighting to maintain full guard but Martello has managed to sneak the leg through.

Martello is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Thomas is just riding it out for now. Martello eventually gives up the hold.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Martello is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Thomas to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Thomas shrugs it off.

Martello is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Thomas can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Martello is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Thomas has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Martello has hold of Thomas's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Thomas manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Martello stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Thomas has had enough of the clinch but Martello keeps him there for the moment.
Thomas wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Martello throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thomas's waist but Thomas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Martello off to one side.

BOOM! Martello connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Martello goes for an armbar but Thomas turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Thomas.

Thomas has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Martello to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Thomas is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Martello pulls down on the head and he's put Thomas to sleep! This one is all over!
