PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Horatio Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustav Graves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jacobs comes to the cage accompanied by Guns In the Sky - INXS. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Horatio Jacobs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gustav Graves!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobs just misses with a punch to the body.
A slow jab from Graves misses its intended target.
Jacobs uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Graves.

It looks like Gustav Graves has been cut.

Graves has closed the distance and engaged Jacobs in a clinch.

Graves is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jacobs can't fight it off and eventually Graves manages to take the fight to the floor. Jacobs looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jacobs is on top in guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Graves is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Graves tries to lock up and control but Jacobs gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jacobs misses with a head shot.

Graves tries to hold on but Jacobs postures up.
Jacobs sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Graves slips a jab and a cross from Jacobs.
Graves throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jacobs sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Graves has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Graves there as he acknowledges the shot.
Jacobs misses with a straight right.
Graves throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Graves uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jacobs.

Graves throws a sloppy head kick and Jacobs moves out of range easily.
Jacobs moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Jacobs throws a looping overhand right but Graves ducks down to avoid it.
Graves fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jacobs looks to throw the jab but Graves is out of range.
Jacobs avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Graves wants to clinch up but Jacobs keeps it at a distance.
Graves scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Graves ducks under a wild hook from Jacobs.

Jacobs looks to throw the jab but Graves is out of range.
Jab, jab by Jacobs - just one landing.
Jacobs lands with a thumping leg kick.
Graves throws a head kick but Jacobs moves out of range.
Jacobs will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Graves feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Jacobs darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Graves's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Jacobs before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Horatio Jacobs!
A very excited looking Horatio Jacobs made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
