PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake VanVactor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paz Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). VanVactor comes into the arena with Like a Pimp by David Banner blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake VanVactor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paz Silva!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
VanVactor misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Silva.

VanVactor cracks a nice hook into Silva's ribs.
Silva takes a shot to the body in his stride.
VanVactor swings for the body but Silva moves out of range.

VanVactor closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Silva quickly recovers to half guard.

VanVactor is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Silva doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time VanVactor.

VanVactor is working for a kimura but Silva is defending it quite comfortably.

Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with VanVactor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

VanVactor is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Silva sees it coming and defends easily.

VanVactor seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Silva does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

VanVactor is looking for a kimura but Silva is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for VanVactor to get the leverage.

VanVactor is nestled in close to Silva, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

VanVactor shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Silva napping and manages to drive through into side control!
A lull in the action here as VanVactor stalls from top position.

VanVactor is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Silva knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

VanVactor wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Silva, who protects the arm well.

VanVactor scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Silva to see if he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
VanVactor tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Silva is not content to let VanVactor control the position.

VanVactor is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Silva is trying to escape and VanVactor transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Silva is forced to tap! Nice work there by VanVactor! Very nice indeed!
