Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Mendez!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez fails to land the takedown.

Mendez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Taken to the mat! Taken manages to get full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Mendez counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Mendez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Taken is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mendez, into his guard.

Mendez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Taken is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Taken working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mendez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mendez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mendez pushes down on Taken's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Taken connects with a good right hand that stumbles Mendez. Mendez circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Taken works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Taken connects with a nice looking jab.
Taken has a takedown stuffed.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mendez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Taken was well out of range. Poor timing from Mendez.
Taken throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Taken shoots in for a takedown but Mendez shows good takedown defense.
Mendez closes the distance and clinches up with Taken, looking for a takedown. Mendez pushes Taken against the cage but Taken circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Taken has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chance Taken. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mendez dives in and grabs Taken's left leg, looking for a takedown. Taken pushes down on Mendez's head and hops out.
Mendez takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Taken shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mendez but Mendez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Chance Taken is winning the standup battle so far.
No luck for Taken with that takedown attempt.
Mendez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Taken swivels and escapes.

and Mendez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Taken's guard.

Mendez is working Taken over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Mendez is posturing up here but Taken has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Mendez tries to roll out but it's too tight and Mendez has to tap! Slick submission there by Taken!
