Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Quinton Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Igor Prikhodko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson ducks under a wild hook from Hackney.
Jackson cracks Hackney with a good jab.
Jackson lands with a hook. Hackney tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Hackney throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jackson misses with a body shot.
Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hackney moves away.
Jackson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hackney's head.
Jackson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hackney's hands.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hackney knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

and Jackson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hackney's guard now.

Jackson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hackney's waist but Hackney gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jackson off to one side.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Jackson counters with a stiff right hand.
Jackson looks to land a left hand but Hackney moved out of range nicely.
Hackney throws a right hand that Jackson ducks under and follows up with a left that Jackson also avoids with ease.

Hackney gets caught flat footed, as Jackson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Jackson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Quinton Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Hackney's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Hackney throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jackson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jackson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hackney. That did some damage!
Hackney closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Jackson fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hackney.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Jackson. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Hackney takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Jackson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Quinton Jackson wasn't active enough on the ground.
Jackson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Keith Hackney is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jackson throws a quick inside leg kick.
Hackney is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Hackney takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Jackson is taking a breather. Hackney says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jackson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hackney to his feet.
Hackney throws a lazy right hand but Jackson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hackney is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Quinton Jackson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Quinton Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Well Jackson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
