Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Uteer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julian Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brandon Uteer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Julian Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Sergei Dronov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taylor clinches up with Uteer and pushes him back against the cage.
Taylor prevents the takedown attempt.
Uteer tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Uteer wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon Uteer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Uteer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Horrible takedown by Uteer or perhaps it was just good defense by Taylor which made him look bad.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Taylor works his way into side control.
Taylor cracks Uteer with a big elbow.
Taylor scores with a couple of short elbows.
Uteer tries to improve position but can't.
Taylor has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Taylor decides to stand back up.
Uteer fails with a takedown attempt.

Taylor shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Taylor was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Uteer is wriggling around trying to escape.

Taylor looking to control and managing it successfully.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Taylor lands a heavy elbow.
Taylor controlling the position easily from mount.
Taylor trying to control but Uteer is having none of it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Taylor connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Uteer is looking to get to half guard.
Taylor looking to control but Uteer is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Uteer is desperately trying to improve his position but Taylor has a good base and remains in mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Uteer shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Taylor sprawls well. Taylor wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Uteer gets slowly back to his feet.
Brandon Uteer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Taylor ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Uteer moves away.
Uteer shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Taylor defends it nicely.
Uteer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Taylor swats him away and circles back towards the center.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Taylor fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Taylor gets caught napping as Uteer dives in and scores a takedown. Taylor manages to retain guard.
Uteer wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.
Uteer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Taylor swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Taylor is pulling down on Uteer's head. It's preventing any offense from Uteer, at least for the moment.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Julian Taylor was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Uteer fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon Uteer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Uteer fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Taylor pivots, looking for a leg kick but Uteer is out of range and Taylor settles back down.

Uteer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nice straight punches there by Taylor. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Taylor.
Taylor shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Uteer sprawls well. Uteer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Taylor gets slowly back to his feet.

Taylor shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Uteer is trying to defend but Taylor finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Uteer tries to get to full guard but Taylor has control of the leg.

Taylor is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Uteer sees it coming and defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Taylor looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Taylor is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Uteer has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Still in half guard, Taylor seems content to control.
Taylor wants to take a breather but Uteer is having none of it.
Taylor content to control rather than advance.
Let's hope that Taylor has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Julian Taylor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Taylor fails with the takedown
and Uteer counters with a nice uppercut.
Uteer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Taylor but Taylor pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Taylor closes the distance and clinches.

Taylor breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Uteer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Taylor circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Uteer.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon Uteer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Taylor fails with the takedown.
Uteer shoots in but no luck this time.

Uteer gets a takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Taylor makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Taylor.
Julian Taylor has got the better of the ground game so far.

Taylor working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Uteer has passed into half guard!
Uteer stalling away here and it's allowed Taylor to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Uteer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Taylor works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Taylor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Uteer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Uteer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Uteer postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Uteer is looking to stand up but Taylor won't let him.
Taylor is adopting a defensive guard.
Uteer won't allow Taylor to sweep him here.

Taylor looking for a guillotine here but Uteer defends easily.
Uteer has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Taylor is proving hard to escape from.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Uteer passes Taylor's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Uteer is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Taylor can do anything to dispel that myth.
Taylor tries to get to full guard but Uteer has control of the leg.
Uteer is thwarting Taylor's attempts to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Uteer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Taylor is just riding it out for now. Uteer eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are battling for position here. Taylor manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Uteer postures up in Taylor's guard and throws a big left but Taylor blocks it.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brandon Uteer.
Well Taylor has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
