Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tom Hagen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mu Cephei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cephei has chosen Yngwie Malmsteen - Black star as his entrance music. Tom Hagen could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mu Cephei's chin.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mu Cephei!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cephei with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hagen counters with a takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Hagen lands a few punches from side control.
Hagen with the ground and pound but Cephei regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Hagen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cephei's head.
Cephei is refusing to be controlled, as Hagen sits in half guard.
Cephei is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hagen pulls his head out easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hagen is keen to just control but Cephei is a slippery customer.
Hagen looks to land a strike but Cephei avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Cephei throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hagen escapes and throws Cephei's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cephei wants to control but Hagen is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Cephei keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hagen is looking to take a break and control but Cephei is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hagen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cephei defends it well.
Cephei is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hagen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hagen's back!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hagen trying to control the action but Cephei just sinks the hooks in.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cephei is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Hagen has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Hagen tries to escape but Cephei has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Hagen is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Cephei gets his way!
Hagen needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation.
Cephei is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Hagen knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Hagen for a finish.

Cephei is working for a rear naked choke. Hagen is not defending it well and Cephei has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Hagen refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Hagen's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mu Cephei! Mu Cephei retains his middleweight title!
A relieved looking Mu Cephei thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
