Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Sam Benton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Troy Cantwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cantwin has chosen Whispers In The Dark as his entrance music. Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Troy Cantwin enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sam Benton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Troy Cantwin!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cantwin with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Benton is breathing heavily.
Benton throws a half hearted mid kick.
Benton misses with a head kick.
Cantwin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Benton avoids the body shot from Cantwin.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Benton sizes up Cantwin with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Benton throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Benton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cantwin moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Benton throws a sloppy head kick and Cantwin moves out of range easily.
Benton tries a head kick but it misses.
Benton misses with a head kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cantwin throws a low kick but Benton avoids it.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Cantwin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Benton has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Benton and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Benton fakes the leg kick and cracks Cantwin in the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cantwin misses with a body shot
and Benton counters with a low kick, right behind Cantwin 's knee.
A head kick misses from Benton.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cantwin lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sam Benton will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Cantwin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Benton throws a head kick that misses.
Benton throws a leg kick but Cantwin sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cantwin darts in and clinches Benton up against the cage.

Cantwin looking to stall.
Benton stalling in the clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cantwin trying to stall but Benton improves his position.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Cantwin is looking to control Benton's arms but Benton gets an underhook and turns him. Now Cantwin has his back to the cage.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Troy Cantwin.
Benton tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cantwin blocks a head kick by Benton.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sam Benton will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Benton avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Cantwin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Benton.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Benton as Cantwin tries to tie him up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Benton for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Cantwin trying to control the position but instead, Benton has worked for underhooks and has pushed Cantwin into the cage.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Benton content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Benton seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Sam Benton.
Cantwin swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sam Benton.
Well Benton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
