Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rocko Rod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Rubber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rocko Rod has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rocko Rod!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jean Rubber!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rubber throws a sloppy head kick and Rod moves out of range easily.

Rod changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rubber looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Rod creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rubber sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Rubber wants to get back to his feet but Rod drags him back down.
Rod taking a breather here.
Rod is looking to take a break and control but Rubber is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rod decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rubber to his feet.
Rubber throws a right hand that Rod ducks under and follows up with a left that Rod also avoids with ease.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rod has managed to clinch.
Rubber wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Rubber has had enough of the clinch but Rod keeps him there for the moment.
Rod using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Rubber has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Rod breaks the clinch.
Rod will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rod shoots in for a takedown but Rubber shows good takedown defense.

Rod fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rubber, pushing him back against the cage.

Rod's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rubber throws a series of strikes that have Rod backpedaling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rod tries to clinch up but Rubber circles away and keeps his distance.
Rubber keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rod looks to clinch
enabling Rubber to counter with a crisp jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rod tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rubber sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rod somewhat.

Rod closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rubber did well to prevent Rod getting side control.
Rod is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Rod seems to be working for a kimura but Rubber defends the submission attempt.

Rod prevents Rubber from standing back up.
Rod is taking a breather. Rubber says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Rubber is not content to let Rod control the position.
Rod not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Rubber wants to get back to his feet.
Rod is trying to control the action in half guard but Rubber is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rocko Rod.

Rubber clinches up with Rod and pushes him back against the cage.

Rod breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Rod changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rubber looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Rod tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Rod grinds an elbow into Rubber's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rocko Rod dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


No luck with that takedown attempt from Rod.

Rod shoots in and bounces Rubber off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rubber wants to stand and escape but Rod is having none of it.
Rod wants to control from the top but Rubber keeps moving.
Rod tries to free his leg and advance position but Rubber is retaining full guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Rubber is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Rod dives into side control.

Rubber is pushing Rod's head away, looking to escape. Rod manages to hold on to the position though.
Rod wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rubber keeps working.
The referee asks Rod politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Rod prefers to stall for the moment though.
Rubber pushes Rod away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Rod gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Rod stands up.

Rod gets a double leg takedown into Rubber's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rod drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rubber dives on top into guard.

Rod lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rubber!
Rod won't let Rubber get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rod wants to control the action but instead Rubber gets a body lock and reverses into Rod's guard! Nice work!

Rod tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rod on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rod tries to get out of the position.

Rod is working an open guard so Rubber takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Rod fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rod tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rubber swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rubber looks to land a combination but Rod avoids it well.
Rocko Rod is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rod.
Rubber misses with a two punch combination.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rod misses with a straight right.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rod.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rocko Rod. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rubber circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rod stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rod wants it to stay on the feet.
Rod tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rubber sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rod somewhat.

Rubber circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rod misses with a few strikes there.
Rubber tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rod swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Rubber counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Rubber gets to his feet. Rod looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rubber moves into the clinch successfully.

Rod is trying to force a seperation but Rubber has the dominant position.
Rubber misses with an elbow strike.

Rubber ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rubber no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Rod passes Rubber's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Rubber is looking to escape.
Rod will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rod keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Rod wants to free his trapped foot but Rubber is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Rubber pushes Rod off looking to stand but Rod dives back in and keeps control.

Rod is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Rubber is trying to stand.
Rubber is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Rod is taking a breather. Rubber says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Rocko Rod just wasn't active enough.
Danga de danga de dang - Rod scores with a four punch combination!
Rubber uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rod.
Rod shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rubber pinned against the cage. Rubber gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Jean Rubber has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rod wants to work for an arm triangle but Rubber is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jean Rubber.
Well Rod has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
