Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dexter Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reginald Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cross comes to the ring accompanied by Man in the Box - Alice in Chains. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis with a poor takedown

and Cross decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lewis's guard.
Cross prevents Lewis from getting back to his feet.

Cross wants to control from the top but Lewis keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Lewis shoots for a takedown but Cross saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Lewis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lewis.
Lewis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lewis is looking to work some ground and pound but Cross has wrist control.
Cross is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Cross gets caught napping as Lewis dives in and scores a takedown. Cross manages to retain guard.

Cross has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lewis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lewis stands up over Cross, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Cross is breathing heavily.

Cross has momentary wrist control but Lewis slips an elbow through the middle.

Cross working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lewis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lewis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lewis throws a big right hand that misses.
Lewis is in close to Cross's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Lewis won't allow Cross to sweep him here.
Lewis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cross. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
