Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bones Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Wiel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bones Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Peter Wiel!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a body shot.
Jones scores with a head kick. Wiel tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Jones lands a nice looking kick to the body. Wiel takes a step back to recover.
Jones cracks Wiel with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Jones's corner calls for a 1-2. Jones obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Wiel moves out of range of the body kick from Jones.
Jones throws a head kick but Wiel moves out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Jones thows a leg kick but Wiel checks it

and Wiel decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jones's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Wiel postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Wiel trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Wiel advances position into side control!

Jones holds on to Wiel's head and controls the position momentarily.
Wiel working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Wiel tries to advance to mount but Jones denies him.
Jones takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Wiel is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Wiel postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Jones is trying to control Wiel's posture but Wiel avoids it.
Jones is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Wiel wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy.
Wiel prevents Jones from improving his position.
Jones makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jones.
Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Wiel won't allow Jones to sweep him here.
Wiel's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wiel trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Wiel keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jones's head.

Jones is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Jones lands an elbow inside.

Wiel jumps guard but Jones turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Wiel jumps guard but Jones stands there with Wiel around his waist. Wiel gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wiel tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jones's elbow.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bones Jones will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Jones swings for the body but Wiel moves out of range.
Jones takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Wiel closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Wiel is trying to control the action in half guard but Jones is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jones moves into full guard.
Wiel is stalling in the full guard.
Jones wants to stand and escape but Wiel is having none of it.
Wiel with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wiel throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Wiel won't allow Jones to sweep him here.
Wiel trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Jones will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Peter Wiel has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Wiel shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.
Jones is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Wiel closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Wiel pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wiel takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Wiel is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.

Wiel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wiel showed some decent athleticism there.

Jones is trying to get back to full guard.
Jones keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Jones holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Wiel seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jones controlling the position well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Wiel.

Jones jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Wiel shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Wiel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bones Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Wiel.
Wiel shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Both fighters circling a little - Jones finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Wiel misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bones Jones is winning the standup battle so far.
Wiel is breathing heavily.
Wiel tries to move into range but Jones moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Wiel stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jones.
Jones keeps the fight on the outside.

Jones dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Some wild striking there from Jones.
Jones lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Jones throws a leg kick which misses Wiel's front leg but catches the back leg as Wiel tries to avoid it.

Jones thuds his shin into the meat of Wiel's side.

Wiel drives through and clinches with Jones against the cage.
Jones is trying to maintain a safe position but Wiel gets an underhook and turns Jones into the cage.
Wiel tries to pull guard but Jones forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Jones lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Jones is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones lands an elbow inside.

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wiel chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Jones can pounce on him.
Jones defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wiel.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wiel moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Bones Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones throws a leg kick which misses Wiel's front leg but catches the back leg as Wiel tries to avoid it.
Jones lands with a hook. Wiel tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Wiel on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Wiel circles away.
Wiel shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jones tries to bum rush Wiel with a series of wild strikes but Wiel uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Wiel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wiel off to one side.

Wiel tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.
Peter Wiel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Jones.
A nice inside leg kick there by Jones. That's going to slow Wiel down.

Wiel shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wiel's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Jones closes the distance and pushes Wiel back into the cage.
Jones is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
