Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Royce Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wasp misses with the combination.

Wasp rushes Hughes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hughes blocking some punches.
Wasp works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Hughes blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Wasp is struggling to control the position.
Wasp throws a head punch that misses.
Hughes is looking for a takedown.
Hughes blocks the elbow strike.
Hughes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Wasp goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Wasp breaks from the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hughes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Wasp counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Wasp.
Wasp struggles to land a body shot inside as Hughes controls his hands.
Wasp is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Wasp is pushing Hughes up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Wasp swings wildly with an uppercut but Hughes uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wasp tries to work over Hughes's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Hughes successfully pulls guard.

Hughes is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Wasp has his hands clasped together but Hughes extends an breaks Wasp's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hughes.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Royce Hughes!
