Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shinji Tanaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shinji Tanaka has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Tanaka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bill Smith!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a right and a left that Tanaka avoids nicely.
Tanaka throws a series of punches but Smith moves out of range.
Smith looks for a takedown but Tanaka sprawls well.
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Tanaka sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tanaka tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tanaka to the ground. Tanaka escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shinji Tanaka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bill Smith.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Tanaka sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Tanaka tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tanaka paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Smith just misses with a punch to the body.
Smith throws a leg kick that is checked

and Tanaka counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Tanaka tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Tanaka manages to pull guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Smith is sitting in close to Tanaka's body. Tanaka has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Smith is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Smith is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Tanaka.
