Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rolles Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Larry Soles!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Soles clinches up against the cage.

Soles turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Gracie managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Soles.

Soles throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Soles wants to control but Gracie is keeping him busy.
Soles taking a break here but Gracie is having none of it and regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Larry Soles was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Soles closes the distance and clinches up with Gracie, looking for a takedown. Soles pushes Gracie against the cage but Gracie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Soles decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Soles tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gracie sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Soles somewhat.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gracie is squirming around, avoiding Soles's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Larry Soles dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Gracie keeping moving, preventing Soles from controlling successfully.
Soles wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Soles is stalling in the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Larry Soles has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Soles has managed to clinch.

Soles shoots for a double leg takedown but Gracie sprawls well. He's pushed Soles's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Soles throws a head kick that misses.

Soles gets a takedown into half guard.

Soles is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Soles frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Soles throws some wild stikes that Gracie manages to avoid easily.

Soles looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Larry Soles showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Soles shoots in but no luck this time.
Gracie looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Soles closes the distance and clinches.

Soles escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Soles misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Soles shoots in looking for a takedown. Gracie tries to sprawl out of it but Soles keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gracie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Soles drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Soles is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Larry Soles has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Soles closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gracie's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Soles advances to half guard.
Larry Soles has got the better of the ground game so far.
Soles controlling the action here.
Gracie avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Soles.
Soles not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Soles is pressing down on Gracie's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gracie is holding on for now.
Nice strikes from Soles there.
Gracie is not content to let Soles control the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Larry Soles wasn't active enough on the ground.

Soles drives through and clinches with Gracie against the cage.
Soles effectively controlling the action here.

Soles continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.

Soles pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Soles tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Soles shoots in for a takedown but Gracie shows good takedown defense.
Rolles Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Larry Soles is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Soles moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Larry Soles comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Soles has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
