Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kwinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brett Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Brett Barnes enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kwinton Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brett Barnes!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Anthony Taglia and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes is looking to clinch but Jackson is avoiding it.
Jackson thuds a left hand into Barnes's body.
Barnes shoots in but no luck this time.
Jackson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jackson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Barnes.
Barnes has a takedown stuffed.
Barnes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jackson as he jumps to the side.
Kwinton Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brett Barnes.

Barnes gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Barnes misses with an elbow strike.
Jackson managing to block the knees to the body from Barnes.

Jackson manages to break the clinch.

Barnes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jackson tries to buck Barnes off but Barnes is having none of it.
Jackson wants to control but Barnes postures up.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet.
Jackson wants to control but Barnes postures up.

Jackson is trying to improve his position.
Barnes landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Jackson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jackson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Barnes has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Barnes tries to clinch but Jackson is having none of it.
Barnes throws a combination. Jackson tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Jackson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barnes manages to avoid it.
A combination from Jackson does no damage.
Brett Barnes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Barnes shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Barnes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Barnes gets a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Barnes throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Barnes wants to clinch up but Jackson keeps it at a distance.
No luck for Barnes with that takedown attempt.
Jackson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Barnes counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Jackson lands a nice shot to the body.
Barnes showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jackson.
Jackson with a nice cross.
Jackson misses with a series of wild punches.
Jackson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Barnes looks gassed!
Barnes tries to close the distance and clinch but Jackson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson throws a good cross that connects.
Barnes throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jackson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Barnes gets the takedown into side control.
Barnes throws an elbow but Jackson slips to the side and avoids it well.
Jackson tries to buck Barnes off but Barnes is having none of it.

Barnes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Barnes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jackson is not content to let Barnes control the position.

Barnes tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Jackson dodges the ground and pound from Barnes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Barnes goes for an armbar but Jackson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Jackson.
Barnes wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment.
Jackson chips away with some ground and pound.
Barnes throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Barnes has his foot on Jackson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jackson works his way back into a safe position though.
Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Barnes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jackson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Barnes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brett Barnes dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jackson misses with a two punch combination.
Jackson keeps the fight on the outside.
A shot to the body from Barnes misses
and Jackson counters with a three punch combo that has Barnes backing up. Barnes nods at Jackson to acknowledge the strikes.


Barnes is rocked!
Kwinton Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Barnes showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jackson.
Barnes is still on wobbly legs! Can Jackson finish him?
No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Barnes misses with a looping right.
Barnes seems to have recovered his senses.
A combination from Jackson does no damage.
Barnes wants to clinch
and Jackson counters with a right hand to the body.
Jackson misses with the combination.
Jackson throws a left and a right that both miss

and Barnes counters by moving into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson wants to get back to striking at distance but Barnes won't allow it.
Barnes changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jackson fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Jackson counters with a one-two to the body.
Barnes is breathing heavily.
Jackson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Barnes.
Jackson looks to land a combination but Barnes avoids it well.
Kwinton Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Barnes swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Jackson counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Barnes down! Jackson is looking to finish but Barnes is intelligently defending himself.

Barnes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Barnes had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jackson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Barnes Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jackson's back instead.
Barnes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Barnes connects with a big shot to the side of Jackson's head.

Barnes working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Barnes has Jackson flattened out and is raining down punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jackson can't escape the position.

Barnes is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Jackson won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Barnes off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Brett Barnes!
