The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deefoantoo tries a head kick but it misses.

and Lesnar moves into the clinch.
Lesnar gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Deefoantoo.
Deefoantoo looking to slow down the pace here.
Deefoantoo misses with an elbow over the top.

Lesnar tries to score a body lock takedown but Deefoantoo shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Lesnar goes for a takedown in the clinch but Deefoantoo prevents it.
Deefoantoo throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Lesnar blocks it with crossed arms.
Lesnar is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Vermiceo Deefoantoo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar has hold of one of Deefoantoo's legs. Deefoantoo is fighting the takedown attempt but Lesnar gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Lesnar thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Lesnar is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Lesnar is pushing down on Deefoantoo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Deefoantoo is fighting to maintain full guard but Lesnar has managed to sneak the leg through.

Lesnar has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Deefoantoo defend it? Lesnar steps over the head and cranks it - Deefoantoo is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Lesnar!

Brock Lesnar was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
