PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hriday Kakkar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juha Koistinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kakkar comes into the arena with The Call of Ktulu blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hriday Kakkar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Juha Koistinen!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koistinen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kakkar fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Koistinen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Koistinen not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Koistinen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Koistinen not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kakkar trying to control from the bottom.

Koistinen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kakkar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Koistinen is looking to chop away at Kakkar's legs.

Koistinen tries to clinch but Kakkar moves away

so Kakkar counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kakkar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Koistinen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kakkar has managed to get both his arms back between Koistinen's legs - danger averted.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Koistinen doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Kakkar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Koistinen is fending him off so far but Kakkar persists. Nope, Koistinen circles away and we're back to standing.

Koistinen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Koistinen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That was a close second round but I would say that Hriday Kakkar will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Koistinen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Koistinen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kakkar's waist but Kakkar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Koistinen off to one side.
Kakkar shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kakkar takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Hriday Kakkar has been cut.
Koistinen lands with a hook. Kakkar tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Koistinen shoots in but no luck this time.
Hriday Kakkar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juha Koistinen.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Koistinen enables Kakkar to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Koistinen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Juha Koistinen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Koistinen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
