PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leon Cotto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dominic Borowiec (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cotto's entrance music is Paragonx9 - Chaoz Fantasy. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leon Cotto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dominic Borowiec!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Borowiec tries to clinch but Cotto moves out of range.

and Cotto counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Cotto sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Borowiec defending well though.

Cotto is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Cotto postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Borowiec wants to get back to his feet but Cotto is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Cotto passes Borowiec's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Cotto thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Borowiec's head.

Cotto is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Cotto throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Cotto is looking to advance position but Borowiec won't allow it.

Cotto looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Cotto is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Borowiec reverses the position - he's now on top in Cotto's guard.
Borowiec must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Borowiec wants to stand but Cotto has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Cotto uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Borowiec tries to bum rush Cotto with a series of wild strikes but Cotto uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dominic Borowiec is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Borowiec scores with a head kick. Cotto tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Borowiec looks gassed!
Cotto avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Borowiec has closed the distance and engaged Cotto in a clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Borowiec tries to land a knee to the head but Cotto blocks with his arms.

Cotto turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Borowiec prevents Cotto from moving into mount.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Borowiec moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Cotto tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Borowiec swivels and escapes.

Borowiec stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Borowiec wants it to stay on the feet.

Cotto misses with a combination
and Borowiec counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Borowiec throws a head kick that misses.

Borowiec darts in and clinches Cotto up against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cotto fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Borowiec lands with a short shot to the head.
Nice elbow from Borowiec.
Cotto drops down looking for an ankle pick but Borowiec pulls his leg out and moves away.
Borowiec is looking to clinch but Cotto is avoiding it.
Borowiec tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cotto paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Cotto throws a nice looking combination but Borowiec bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Borowiec tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cotto swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Borowiec connects with a high kick.


Cotto is rocked!

Borowiec moves into range and clinches up with Cotto.
Oh Cotto is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nice elbow from Borowiec.
Borowiec gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Clinched against the cage, Borowiec lands a big elbow that drops Cotto! The ref dives in to save him from more shots - Cotto is complaining that he's OK but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dominic Borowiec!
A very excited looking Dominic Borowiec made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
