PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ben Strasser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cyril Zakharov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Strasser comes to the cage accompanied by Rocky. Zakharov has chosen Russian National Anthem as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ben Strasser!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cyril Zakharov!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zakharov has managed to clinch.
Zakharov with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Strasser is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Zakharov is defending well for now.
Zakharov throws a knee to the head but misses.
Strasser jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Zakharov walks away with a smile on his face. Strasser gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Zakharov wants to clinch

and Strasser counters with a nice double leg into guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Zakharov is squirming around, avoiding Strasser's attempts to control the action.
Zakharov has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Strasser really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Zakharov.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Strasser, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
