The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Overeem misses.
Boxer lands a big head kick that sends Overeem tumbling to the mat! Boxer takes a step backwards and waves Overeem back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like John Overeem has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boxer throws a body kick that misses.
Overeem drives through with a takedown into guard.
Overeem passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Overeem cracks Boxer with a big right hand but Boxer just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Boxer takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Boxer takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Boxer takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Overeem scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Boxer is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Overeem can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Overeem!
