The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Il works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Staton throws a head kick but Il moves out of range.
Staton misses with a wild combination.
Il scores with a jab. Staton acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Il throws a hook to the side of Staton's head but Staton sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Staton swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Staton throws a low kick but Il avoids it.
Staton drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Staton's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Staton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Staton fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Il is out of range.

Staton fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Il checks it well.
Il swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Staton throws a leg kick which misses Il's front leg but catches the back leg as Il tries to avoid it.
Staton throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Il on the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Staton uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Il.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Lee Staton will probably get the nod.

Lee Staton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Il throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kim Jong Il is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Staton takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Staton instigates a clinch.
Il jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Staton walks away with a smile on his face. Il gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Staton throws a lazy right hand but Il sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Staton throws an overhand right that lands on Il's shoulder, as Il tries to avoid the shot.
Staton misses with a jab to the body
and Il makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Staton tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Il was well out of range. Poor timing from Staton.
Staton punishes Il's body with a nice straight punch.
Il takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Il throws a body punch but Staton moves out of range.
Il fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lee Staton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kim Jong Il.

Staton lands a leg kick that knocks Il off balance momentarily.

Il stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Staton.

Staton lands a nice hook to Il's body. Il takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Staton fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Il.

Il blocks a head kick by Staton.
Staton is looking to wear down Il with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Staton lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Staton cracks Il with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Il looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Staton finish him?

Il is rocked!

The cut above Kim Jong Il's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Staton throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Il is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!
