The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nichols throws a leg kick that misses.
Kosmina throws a right and a left that Nichols avoids nicely.
Nichols looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kosmina is fending him off so far but Nichols persists. Nope, Kosmina circles away and we're back to standing.
Kosmina looks to score with a jab to the body but Nichols is just out of range.
Nichols shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kosmina but Kosmina pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kosmina is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Nichols.

It looks like Ricky Kosmina has been cut.
Kosmina throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Nichols on the side of the head.
Kosmina getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Kosmina throws a jab when Nichols was well out of range.
Nichols lands with a thumping leg kick.
Kosmina with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Nichols to score with a decent uppercut.
Kosmina tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nichols circles away from the clinch attempt
and Nichols counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ricky Kosmina seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nichols looks to land a left hand but Kosmina moved out of range nicely.
Kosmina tries to close the distance and clinch but Nichols swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Kosmina closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Nichols tries to pull guard but Kosmina holds him up against the cage and eventually Nichols drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeffrey Nichols. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kosmina wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Kosmina wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Nichols has him pressed against the cage.
Stalling in the clinch from Nichols.

Nichols drags the fight down to the ground.
Nichols bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kosmina's guard.
Nichols pushing down on Kosmina's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Kosmina is looking for a sweep. Nichols is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Nichols is looking to advance position but Kosmina won't allow it.

Nichols prevents Kosmina from standing back up.
Nichols wants to pass to mount but Kosmina is defending the position.

Nichols maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Kosmina could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Nichols has cracked it and Kosmina is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Nichols!
