PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Clark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xander Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clark kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is System of a Down- Bounce. Cage has chosen Diary of Jane as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cage has a takedown stuffed.
A slow jab from Clark misses its intended target.
Clark scores with a nice strike.
Cage slips a jab and a cross from Clark.
A jab from Clark finds it's way through Cage's defenses.
Clark works Cage's body with a nice hook.
Clark bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cage is defended easily by Clark.
Clark lands with a nice combination. Cage backs away looking to recover.
Cage tries to clinch up
and Clark counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cage uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Clark.
Cage tries for a takedown but Clark sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Aaron Clark has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xander Cage.
Clark lands with an overhand left.
A looping hook to the body misses from Clark. Cage does a little dance to reset his feet.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Clark, as that shot connected.
Clark misses the shot to the body.
A punch combination from Clark misses.
Cage takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Cage takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Clark misses with a right hand
and Clark takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A left lands for Clark.
Cage takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cage fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Clark lands with a hook. Cage tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cage shoots in for a takedown but Clark shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Clark lands with a good body shot.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cage.
Clark scores with a nice head shot.
Cage is trying desperately to land a takedown but Clark is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Cage.
Cage needs to keep his hands up - Clark had a free shot at his head there.
Cage looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Cage tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Clark swivels and escapes.
Cage looks gassed!
Clark lands with a good body shot.
Clark wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Clark scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Cage walks into a left hand.

Cage throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Clark's waist but Clark gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cage off to one side.
Clark lands with a shot to the body.
Clark connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cage. Cage circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Clark scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Clark lands a nice shot to the body.
Cage takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Sloppy strikes from Clark. Those never looked like landing.
Clark stuns Cage with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Clark takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cage shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Clark scores with a hook to the body. Cage takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Nice shot lands for Clark.
Clark lands with a straight right. Cage didn't see that one coming.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cage moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Clark bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Cage's head backwards.

Cage is rocked!
Cage gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Clark gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Cage is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Aaron Clark!
A relieved looking Aaron Clark thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
