Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vitor Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pate Paavali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Belfort comes to the cage accompanied by Bate Pesadão. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pate Paavali!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belfort misses with a straight right.
Paavali uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Belfort.
Paavali shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Belfort counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Paavali shoots for a takedown but Belfort saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Belfort loads up on a big right hand but Paavali slips the punch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Belfort. Paavali does a little dance to reset his feet.
Paavali tries to clinch but Belfort moves away
and Belfort counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Belfort looks to score with a jab to the body but Paavali is just out of range.
Belfort throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Belfort connects with the punch.

Belfort avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Paavali feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Belfort looking for a sweep. Not yet Belfort, not yet.
Belfort is looking to stand up but Paavali isn't so interested in that idea.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Paavali is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Belfort is just riding it out for now. Paavali eventually gives up the hold.
